Danding Cojuangco brings home 2 new stallions

I was told that Ambassador Danding Cojuangco has agreed to bring to the Philippines two of his stallions wh are both graded and listed in Australia.

These are G-3 stakes winner RANDWICK (Nureyev-Pyrrha by Ogygian) and YES BOSS (Marscay-mari au tunya by Deputy Minister)

(MARSCAY- sire of YES BOSS)

(NUREYEV-sire of RANDWICK)

RANDWICK will be the only son of NUREYEV to stand in the country after CERESUS died in the 1980s. His second dam is champion broodmare CLABBER GIRL, who placed second in the Breeders cup Juvenile Fillies race several years ago...
Meanwhile,YESS BOSS will be the first stallion son Australian champion MARSCAY in the country.

Marho members will be given a stallion usage fee of only 5,000 pesos for breeding. I was told that YES BOSS will stand in the Batangas farm of his brother Henry Cojuangco jr. and RANDWICK will be at the Paris Match farm of Aristeo Putch Puyat.
The two stallions will arrive this month in time for the breeding season.

REAL SPICY sets new 2050 m record in lackluster PHILTOBO STAKES

Hermie Esguerra's island born champion REAL SPICY (Real Quiet) soundly defeated EMPIRE KING (Perfect Halo) by almost 6 lengths in a record breaking run at the 7th PHILTOBO GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSIC.

REAL SPICY was running third from the gates up to the backstretch and surprised second placer EMPIRE KING with an early move to overtake the lead from DON PAOLO.

EMPIRE KING'S jockey Lord Santos was caught flatfooted when Jockey JB Guce came from behind to pass his horse near the far turn. He tried to close the gap but REAL SPICY went pulling away in record time 29 25 24' 25 25'=2:09.0 erasing his earlier record by 0.9 seconds.

Meanwhile, Triple crown leg winner DON EXEQUIEL (Benchmark) and contender JET SUTTER(Mr.Sutter) sailed from start to finish in a show of class over their rivals in the 3yo colts and 3 yo fillies races. DON EXEQUIEL clocked 25' 24 24 27= 1:40.6 for the mile distance winning by seven lenghts. JET SUTTER also won pulling away with a time of 25 24'24' 26= 1:40.0 for the mile distance.

The Juvenile fillies stakes race was also a non-thriller with another Esguerra entry LANDED VISA(Account of Grace) winning by many lengths over LANCIA STRATOS (Conquistarose) and was timed 1:36 at the 1500 meter distance. SIR LUIS (Conquistarose) on the other hand took the Juvenile colts in what was to be the most exciting stakes race outlasting MIGUELITO (Deputy Bodman) and MACHO MAN (Account of Grace) by almost a length. SIR LUIS negotiated the 1500 meter distance in 19 23 24 28'= 1:35.

The PHILTOBO stakes races this Sunday grossed a total of P 38.4M and a weekend record of P187M. This included the NOV. 30 holiday races that had an additional of four races.

New stallions ECSTATIC and QUAKER RIDGE coming in December

Philippine horsebreeders are awaiting the arrival of two stallions from the US recently bought by two syndicates.
The first is Kentucky based-ECSTATIC (Rahy-Lilac's charm by Deputy Minister) bought by a syndicate led by Jose Mari Franco. He was a $400t purchase by the Thoroughbred corporation and was stakes placed in his career. He was third in the 2001 Norfolk Stakes to winner ESSENCE OF DUBAI. His last stakes placing was third in the 2003 REB POLICY HANDICAP. He earned $338,660 in his career winning 5 times from 2 to 4 years old. His acquisition price remains undisclosed.
(Ecstatic)

(Quaker Ridge)

the second was Florida based QUAKER RIDGE (Forty NIner-Twilight ridge by Cox's ridge) bought by Hermie Esguerra and other horseowners. Her dam TWILIGHT RIDGE is 1985 Breeders cup Juvenile Fillies winner. He was bought by Esguerra's group for $33,000 (P1.6M)

While browsing the internet, I came across a comment from a fan of this stallion in the US. Here's what he said,
"Just thought I would write to you about a wonderful stallion named Quaker Ridge that will be at the Keeneland sales on Wednesday, hip number 3772. He is a gorgeous son of Forty Niner and Twilight Ridge by Cox's Ridge and has always had very nice looking foals. As of yet he hasn't had the huge money maker on the track, but I'm wondering if he could hit the big time very soon. His first foals raced in 2003 and at the end of August this year, out of only 109 foals, he had 61 starters and 41 winners of 113 races and earning $2,129,952 and $99,141(Canada) in North America, including Reaffirmed, Ruffles and Ridges, and Bettin on M J and Flint Ridge.

Both stallions will arrive in the country this month from Kentucky, USA
